Growing up in Maine meant flying the Maine state motto, "Dirigo" or "I direct" or "I lead." It means having more coastline than most states in the country, and a great respect for the immense power of the sea.

Our state slogan is "The Way Life Should Be" ... It makes you stop to think, and ask yourself, how should life be?

Maine produces a variety of people just like other states, including loving, open-minded, and peaceful people, who remain thoughtful about challenging issues. 

It's so key to just be nice; I think that one of the reasons life can be good is that people can be good to each other.
